Fathers Day
June 16, 2005
Well, this is it. The beginning of a blog.
Happy Fathers day…to me. Well, I have to tell you for my second fathers day I celebrated by running over to the local water park with a friend and his daughter and we had the most fun you can have for free. Yep, you heard me…fathers get in free on fathers day, and kids under 3 get in for free always…so that amounts to no entrance fee on fathers day for the next couple years and then a minimal fee after that.
The park is dead in June ( < 500 visitors per day according to one staffer) this is definitely the way to go. All fathers days spent at home will entail a trip to the local water park methinks.
A glorious sunny day, a bunch of sun screen and a couple of hats and bathing suits and E and I were up and down the slides at this park like a couple of teenagers. “Let”s do that again daddy”, one of the most beautiful sounds I will ever hear from my dear girl, especially when it is sooo much fun.
Now pay attention this is important. When riding down a waterslide with your kid in your lap remember to lie down. This creates enough of a dam that the water will shove you and your little one down the slide all the way. Took me a couple of unfun runs pushing all the way while I sat up with E in my lap to figure there must be a better way. Lying down with E between my legs sitting up and “pushing” (just like daddy, man she”s cute) was definitely the way to go.
Oh BTW don”t forget to use the hot tub…little ones get cold quickly and a hot tub is just the thing to keep their core temperature up so they don”t wipe out too soon at the park. In fact we were there 2 and a half hours and no, we didn”t get too much sun but it was close and as soon as E was in the car she was asleep.
We”ll definitely be “doing that again daddy”!!
